Finding My Voice As A Blogger

In my latest post, I mentioned that I want to do full-time blogging. I have decided to stay at home with Adelina until she's ready for kindergarten, so probably another 3-4 years. I am making the most of this time, but let's be honest, it's a massive hit financially. As we now only rely on my husband's income, I am looking into more ways of making money from home. I love blogging and it would be a dream to turn my passion into a living.

The "problem" with blogging is that it's a really popular hustle. There are so many blogs out there, it might seem hard to make it as a blogger. Some of you might remember that I had another blog, Beauty Nerd, which was quite successful. Slowly, I lost my passion for it, and deleted it, despite the good DA and everything. It was popular, but I didn't write about things that mattered to me.

"Carmen Chats" is fairly new, but so much closer to my heart. For starters, I only focus on cruelty-free beauty. I am also somewhat of a minimalist, which means that I can't, and won't keep up with every release. Is this bad for business? Maybe. But I know that those that read this blog have similar interests, which means they will be here for the long run.

Once you know who you are as a blogger and know what you like, it's so much easier to work on your content. You can see how passionate I am about the posts I write, instead of just writing for the sake of it. It's this passion that I want future brands/collaborators to see. I don`t know if it`s OK to give advice since I`m not a big name, but here it goes. Sit down and think about why you`re blogging. Think about what you like and how you can work with that.

This is a concept I came upon recently, and I`m learning so much about it. As someone said, if you can dream it, you can achieve it. Obviously, I think you have to be realistic, but the law of manifestation seems like a great motivational concept. I now set weekly, monthly and yearly goals, and try to treat blogging like a business as well, not just a hobby. When I look at the bloggers I admire, I don`t just see their benefits, but also the hard work they do. I can`t aspire to be like them and expect results by doing the bare minimum.

I`ve also come to the conclusion that if I want to be successful, I need to make some smart investments. Most of us buy our domains and templates, but I think it goes further than that. This year I also want to invest in some courses, mainly those that focus on Pinterest and email marketing. I have no clue what to do when it comes to those. And although there`s plenty of free information online, it`s also time-consuming. I`d rather pay 10-20 bucks and learn from someone successful. Cause the way I see it, I will get the money back in time, once the blog takes off.

I sometimes wonder if I should have kept my old blog and just rebrand. I do miss my good DA, but starting fresh does give you an adrenaline rush. I am so excited to be on this cruelty-free/ sustainable path, and taking you along with me. So stay tuned!
